Project Overview

We're upgrading the sewer network in Darley to ensure a reliable sewage service and support urban growth in the area. These works will be carried out on the intersection between Grey Street, Fitzroy Street and Gisborne Road and also along Grey Street and Gisborne Road.

The new sewer pipes will complement the existing network and will help to reduce the risk of spills during peak times.

During construction we'll be using methods that include open cut and in some areas directional drilling.

These options will help us to reduce construction impacts such as noise, traffic disruption and dust while keeping the sewer network operational throughout our works.

When will construction happen?

We have started early works to prepare the site for construction.

Works will begin in May 2024, and are expected to be complete by TBC 2024.

What to expect during construction

Works will be carried out from Monday to Friday, between 7am and 5pm.

Construction impacts may include:

  • Noise and dust from machinery and construction vehicles.
  • A site compound and materials may be securely stored near our construction area.
  • We will notify you in advance if a weekend or night works are required.
  • Changes to traffic will include lane closures on the roundabout between Gisborne Road, Grey Street and Fitzroy Street, lower Vehicle speed limits, and reduced on-street parking during the works.

Traffic management will be on site to assist vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists move safely around the work area.
