Project Overview

Sunbury is growing, with a population set to double to more than 100,000 people by 2040.

We need to make sure our sewerage network is prepared, so we can continue to provide safe and reliable wastewater services for Sunbury’s rapidly growing population.

Over the next few years, we’ll be upgrading, replacing and building several sewer pipelines throughout Sunbury.

These sewer pipeline upgrades will:

  • ensure there is enough sewer capacity for Sunbury’s growing population
  • improve service reliability for future development
  • reduce maintenance and repair costs
  • replace ageing infrastructure.

There will be some local impacts, including road closures, bicycle and pedestrian diversions as well as construction noise and dust.

Construction has started on the Sunbury duplicate sewer between Powlett Street and the Sunbury Recycled Water Plant on Harker Street. More information about this project at the link below.

We will let you know about projects ahead of time and keep you informed about any changes.

We will continue to update this page as planning progresses. Works will be staged over time to minimise impact.

How are we minimising impacts?

We recognise that Sunbury and surrounds will have a number of construction projects occurring at the same time. We will be working closely with Council, road authorities and others to minimise disruption as much as possible.

We'll share updates and information about these projects before any construction works start in your area.
