Planning our water future together

We’re preparing two important pieces of work that guide how we deliver water and sewer services for our region, now and into the future: our Urban Water Strategy and our Price Submission.

These plans set direction for both the long term and the next pricing period. They reflect the investments we make and the services we provide, and must be shaped by what matters most to our customers and community.

Your feedback will help ensure we deliver value for money and plan for a sustainable future.

Why your input matters

Our region is experiencing hotter, drier conditions that are reducing water storage levels.

Meanwhile, total daily water use continues to rise with an increase in population, and long-term forecasts show Melbourne may need twice as much water by 2070.

We’re planning now so we can:

  • Continue to provide trusted water services
  • Support liveability through green public spaces
  • Care for Country
  • Keep bills fair over time

Your feedback will help ensure our decisions reflect the needs and priorities of the communities we serve.

  • What is Urban Water Strategy?

Every five years, we develop our long-term plan to ensure safe and reliable water services, now and into the future, with a 50-year outlook.

    The UWS looks at:

    • Population growth
    • Climate change
    • Balancing water supply and demand.

It also considers recycled and stormwater use where appropriate, along with the level of service customers expect from us as our region grows. Your views help us weigh up these choices.

  • What is a Price Submission?

    Our Price Submission sets out:

    • What you'll pay
    • The level of service you'll receive
    • How we'll measure our performance
    • The investments we'll make over a set period

It is reviewed and approved by the Essential Services Commission (ESC).

Community engagement is central to this process and helps inform how we balance affordability with reliable services in the future.
