The PBID Foundation Recycled Water Irrigation Areas includes the on-farm infrastructure and works i.e. irrigation pipes and centre pivot systems, that use recycled water from connection points along the supply network. This water is used to irrigate mostly existing broadacre cropping land.

Two stages are proposed:

Stage 1: on-farm pipelines and pivot irrigators associated with irrigation areas required for Years 1-10 of the WIN project.

Stage 2: on-farm pipelines and pivot irrigators associated with irrigation areas required for Year 10+ of the WIN project.

As part of the environmental approvals for WIN, the entire scheme was the subject of an Environmental Effects Statement Referral in mid-2021. On 17 August 2021, the Minister for Planning determined that an Environmental Effects Statement was not required, subject to a couple of conditions. One of these conditions is the preparation of an Environment Report outlining the biodiversity impacts of each component of WIN.

An Environment Report for the PBID Foundation Recycled Water Irrigation Areas component has been compiled and will soon be available for public comment. Once available, a link will be posted here to the Engage Victoria website, where comments can be submitted.
